Therefore, it is important to take the time to properly measure your head size before ordering. You can simply take a string, wrap it around your head just over your eyebrows, mark it, then lay it out on the counter and measure with a yard stick OR to make the process easier, we have attached a handy size chart and printable measuring tape. Whichever method your decide to use, do it several times to make sure your measurements are right on.
Cleaning Your NovDot:
- Please DO NOT use polishes or solvents of any kind on your helmet. You can simply use a mild detergent like "dawn" and warm water with a soft towel for all cleaning. Use of cleaners, Windex, waxes etc. may damage the finish on your helmet!!

Its comfortable and light, I ride with it everyday. The matt black looks awesome, but scratches very easy. The only one problem was the film-coat protection who,left in tatters from the first day.

LOve this helmet! I bought a outlaw retro open face helmet local and it kinda looked big on the old head. Saw these and had to have one. Took about a week to get. Half the weight of my outlaw retro helmet, its light as feather. Rides great and has great low profile look. I normally wear a large helmet, but since I have a oval head I went with the XL and fits perfect. Great helmet for retro look!

I have ordered "the smallest DOT helmet" (the Outlaw 3/4) before and have been extremely disappointed once it arrived only to find out that it just made me look ridiculous. I just got my Licks helmet and its awesome, and I'm very picky. Finally a real low profile helmet. If you're going for that old school look, this helmet pulls it off. And AJ was very helpful in customer service. I see mixed reviews on customer service, if you send a nasty email, expect one back no matter who it is. He was great with me.

Sweet lid! Light weight. Comfy. Looks good. And affordable. Almost pulled the trigger on another brand that was overpriced. After seeing two reviews on youtube I decided to get this one. Highly recommend.
Very neat, comfortable helmet. My only minor concern is that the strap is a little lightweight and I wonder how long it'll last before fraying. Other than that, I couldn't recommend it highly enough - I love it!

I have the NOVDOT with visor its a great overall helmet light and sturdy no lifting. Specailly when you are cruising thru the winding roads over the mohawk trail. I would recomend the helmet to anybody. It has very professional craftsmanship thanks aj. ML&R DFFD
DUDE this helmet is what many of us have been looking for!!! Good fit, insanely light. I also have/had the Bell Custom 500 and the NOVDOT blows it out of the water. I was middle of the XL measurements and ordered 2XL. Fit perfect.
I just received my NovDot helmet, just six days after ordering it. As soon as it arrived, I put it on and couldn't believe how light it was. The size chart was right on and the helmet fit perfectly. I jumped on my Street Bob and couldn't believe how great the helmet felt while riding. I had no problems with the helmet blowing back on my head at high speeds. Low profile like the add says. I just received my Lick's NovDot helmet last Friday and wanted to give some quick feedback...First of all this helmet is absolutely AMAZING! No joke, riding is a brand new experience and the comfort and near to NO lift is un-beatable.I didn't realize how much simply a helmet could change the feel of riding. On another note I was in a pinch and was returning my Bell within 7 days in order to get a refund to purchase the Lick's NovDot. I explained the situation to AJ who got back to me almost immediately. After telling him my situation and how I realllyy didn't want to get stuck without a helmet on a perfect riding weekend, he went out of his way to get this new helmet to me WAY quicker than ever imagined (never happens when order online at diff. sites). I just want to say THANK YOU to the guys at LICKS and I absolutely love the helmet. Cheers and thanks for everything!!!!
Eff yeah! Love this helmet. Took about a week from the day I ordered it for it to be in hand. Fits great... got the XL cause I gotta big head, trust the measurement guide cause it was spot on. Looks awesome and it's super light. Very low- pro and looks better than any 3/4 I've ever tried. You will not be disappointed with this one. I'll buy another just to have the option of another color.
Its comfortable and light, I ride with it everyday. I would have preferred it to come down a little more on the forehead. The matt black looks awesome, but scratches very easy. Every time I set it down it has a new scratch on it. Shippment was very fast!

Helmet sizing is crucial with the Novdot, if it is too small it will ride high on the brow. If you select a size that is too big, you’ll find that the helmet will lift at high speed. We clearly and repeatedly stress the importance of correct sizing for comfort, safety and general performance on the website. We suspect that you may have a sizing issue.
With regard to the finish...we have banged up a few for sure. We have not had the experience that they scratch easily. That being said, I did place mine on the seat of my bike once and it leaped off when I wasn’t paying attention and… yep it scratched when it hit the pavement. As for normal use, we have literally sold thousands and thousands of these without complaint. Long and short, like many of our customers, we use the hell out of our stuff and expect there to be imperfections and wear after time on the road… that’s what makes the stuff cool.

Super light! I live close to a shop that sells Bell, Fulmer, and B-Well so I've tried them all on and will tell you the NovDot is noticeably lighter. NovDot fits a little tight around the front of the brow so the sizing runs just a hair small. Visually, the NovDot is the smallest open face you can go and stay safe on the road. However if you think any DOT helmet will look small on your head you should wake up because you are dreaming. This was a hard pill for me to swallow because I'm super vain. In closing, BUY ONE!

Ok, so at first I thought I was getting put over for a $90 helmet that cost $20 to ship, but then after comparing it other name brand helmets like Bell, it's actually quite the same if not cheaper.
I'll be honest, I thought I could save a few bucks and buy a similar looking helmet first--the Raider Matte black 3/4 helmet from Amazon for $40. While the helmet itself looked beautiful and was comfortable, upon putting it on my head I realized how big the thing really was. Maybe not everyone would agree, but personally I won't wear something that doesn't look good on me, no matter how attractive it is on the shelf. So, I returned it and bought the NovDot-Matte Black from Lick's. When I got it I compared it to a third 3/4 helmet and the NovDot was indeed smaller both in height and width.
Perhaps part of the reason the NovDot is smaller is because it doesn't have as much of the comfort padding as other helmets do. At first I thought this might be a problem, but after putting it on I realized the helmet was shaped so well that I didn't need the extra cushion. If you have an odd-shaped head however, this may be a problem as the impact-absorbing liner is quite firm. I've heard that helmets will eventually be "broken in," so I'm sure it'll get even more comfortable than it is now.
Just a heads up, the NovDot helmet does run a tad smaller than two other brands I've tried, so if you're practically suffering from implosion from you're current size, you may want to consider getting a size larger in the NovDot. For me, I was still able to fit into a large; it's just a bit more snug with the NovDot.
Overall, the helmet looks smaller on my head, feels comfortable without the extra padding, and simply looks B.A. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone and it's well worth the cost, especially considering it could save my life one day.
Ok Guys, Now here this. The following is a review written with complete honesty and fairness. I try to be objective in what I write so please take all points into consideration and without prejudice.
The Bad -
I received a note from my local post office depot to say that they had my parcel and that it was ready for collection. Ok the problem I have with this is that I had paid for priority mail for delivery to my home address not the depot. No the fault of Licks so this is not a slurr on them. It was when I collected my parcel that I was told that there was import duty of a further £23 GBP ($55+) to pay in VAT. This now takes the price of the helmet way beyond what I was hoping to pay. Again, its not Licks fault that my country likes to pillage its people of their money by what ever means necessary but maybe a lesson can be learned here. If you are going to buy one of these helmets and have it sent to the UK ask the guys at Licks if they would mark the postage label with 'used motorcycle parts' or 'repaired helmet'. This way you won't fall into the hands of the w****r tax man and end up losing out like I have. I am only hoping that I can strike a deal with AJ who has been great so far. AJ? Please respond to this via email.
The Good -
Ok, so you are looking for a low profile (but DOT safe) helmet that does not look like a mushroom on a matchstick? You have found it! This helmet is so light and fits in all the right places. Follow the size guide with a tooth comb and you'll be fine. The product seems well made and finished nicely. There are some neat touches like a chin strap popper facility to tidy up any exceess and the removable liner is a top idea when you think how hot it gets under there. It would be good to have a non visor stud option but not a prob with them on. I love the way this helmet sits and it kind of 'wraps' around the head instead of just 'perching' on there. The low profile style is spot on but not too minimalistic. To be honest its not a low as the Davida Speedster but mark this point well....the Davida Speedster is not safety DOT marked or have any road safe aspects to it! This NovDot does and to me this is vital.............VITAL !
Summary -
This helmet is a must if you want a cruiser helmet that is DOT safe, mean looking, low profile and good value. I opted for the matte black and pleased I did. A wider selection of colour options would add to the appeal - can you imagine a US Flag or Evel Knievel colour option! Failing that, imagine this helmet in glitter cherry red, hawaiian blue, or bronze! Maybe this would inflate the cost - who knows?
The guys at Licks have obviously done their research on this product and they have listened to their customers and come up trumps. Please re-pay their hard work by buying one. They are as good as they look and I would suggest that any buyer would not be dissapointed. If you ride a 'Sporty' and want to look mean, honestly, this hemet should be top of your shopping list.

Hi All, I have just ordered one of these fine helmets and I have to say that if it is good enough for my friend Tim then it will be good enough for me. He spent hours researching this product and I must say that I am looking forward to getting mine. I have always used the Davida 'Speedster' range but you need a bank load to buy them!

amazing helmet. Its comfotable, light and looks amazing. Next one i buy will be a gloss black. The matt black looks awesome, but anything scratches it. Other than that i love it.
This is the coolest helmet ever. It's so light and sleek and looks the business. Size is true to chart. I went for Large with a head measurement of 59.5cm. Great service and communication from AJ. It took only 7 days to arrive to my door in London, England.

just a little negative point. theres nuthin at the back of the helmet to secure the goggle strap.
Licks - We purposely omitted the goggle strap on our NovDot helmet so that we could offer the sleekest helmet on the market. No straps, no snaps, just lean and mean. Goggles are super cool, but most of our customers opt to go with the Visormatic face shield instead of the goggle route....hence no goggle strap..sorry dude.
This is now my favorite helmet!!! I tried the Rockhard in Med and although that was a great helmet compared to the NovDot it was much much heavier. I got the Large in the NovDot and it's soo comfortable and light. Went 80mph on the highway and no lift either! Size chart is true to size. Really Impressed, Thanks AJ!!

Helmet just arrived. I ordered a 2xl, and I have to tell you I thought pulling it out of the box that they may have put a smaller size in the 2xl box by accident. It is a compact helmet, and fits great. It reminds me of the helmets S.E.A.L.s used to parachute with, without the vent holes.
Overall I say the fit and finish is great, and well worth it at the price! I will definitely order from Licks again.
Great customer service. I accidentally ordered a small and got it all straightened out through email. The helmet was at my door a week after I ordered it. It's comfortable, light and not too shroomy even though I wear an XL. Very satisfied customer.

july 12 2011 and still no helmet, I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. I PREORDERED MY NOVDOT HELMET BACK IN MARCH 23, 2011 I'M LOSING MY PATIENCE . IM JUST SICK OF WEARING MY STREET&STEEL MUSHROOM HELMET.
I ordered my helmet in May, and just got it. I can tell everyone that is waiting for theirs it's well worth the wait! I got it on Saturday, and took it for a short 300 mile ride and I love this damn thing! It's the best helmet I have ever owned, I will be ordering a Gun Metal gray one soon! It's very light, I got no wind bob (What I like to call it) You can still hear what is going on around you. I ordered a large due to me being just a bit over the Medium size and it fits well! I have no issues with my sun glasses or my ear plugs for my Ipod. AJ and the crew at Licks are great. My buddy Max (The person that told me about these helmets) was right I am not sorry.
The waiting did suck, but for a small company the service was great! Thanks for the added extras Licks! I will be ordering from you again!
I received my NovDot helmet yesterday. I love this helmet. It is definitely the lowest profile 3/4 I have found. It's much better than the Biltwell Hustler and even better than the Rockhard American Classic. I want to thank AJ for working with me to get the proper size. True to their words, the pre-ordered helmets were shipped out and i got mine 2 days ago. this helmet is the bomb! it's so light, and doesnt make you feel like a bobble head. If I had to sum this helmet up in one word, it would be AWESOME. First thing you notice when you pick it up is how light it is. I have another helmet this style, but its another brand and as soon as I put it on I start to get a pain in my forehead, not with this one, definitely glad that I purchased this thing months ago, it was well worth the wait. Cool I get to be the first to review! Let me start by saying this helmet is BAD ASS! There is no need to even read further! This thing is light! First ride with it I had to check to make sure it was still on. My awesome wife pre-ordered it for me and supprised me with it for my birthday! I was stoked because they were out of my size when I tried to order one. So far I only have about 80 miles with it but I love it. Everyone I showed at work wants one now too. I had a DOT half helmet I was using before this and it must weigh twice as much as the NovDot. She also got me the Visormatic 6000 transitional shield. I will review it on its page. Big props to the guys at Licks, my wife said they were great to deal with. She even suggested I buy more products from them! I guess I can't let her down now can I?
